This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for March 22, 2007:
Rather than think in terns of "dream job" I think in terms of the appropriate job for me NOW. I have been in the beauty industry for little over 20 years. Most of the time I have loved my jobs and have ALWAYS loved my industry. A little over 2 years ago I took a job as a sales rep for a skincare company. Hated it. It was all about money, sales, quotas. No creativity. The owner of one of my accounts ( a beauty store) approached me to run his store. I initially said no. I then started negotiating with the owner of a day spa to run her spa. She wanted to hire me but there were obstacles. At one point it looked grim. I was miserable in my job and realizing the day spa job wasn't going to happen. I looked up to the sky and asked, "Universe? I see no other appropriate job opportunities. What shall I do?" That same day, the owner of the beauty store called me from what seemed to be out of the blue. He wanted to renew the conversation about me coming to work for him. Again I lloked up to the sky, "Universe? Do you REALLY want me to go work for this man?" The answer was yes. And I could not be happier. My boss is a respectable man with strong values rooted in spirituality. Yes I still deal with sales, quotas, etc.. I get to do it in a creative atmosphere. I manage over ten people and I have the opportunity to touch their lives and hopefully make a difference. And then there are the customers. I am so blessed.
